The Latin American pesticides market had been valued $8,8250
million and it accounted for 16.8% of the global pesticides market share in
2013. It is estimated to grow with a share of 17.9% by the end of 2018.
There are 2 million farmers and 300 million eaters in the U.S. In between stand a handful of corporations that control how food gets from one side to the other. Whether grain traders, processors or pesticide makers, these global concerns are among the most profitable, highly subsidized and consolidated industries in the world. Actual pesticide use has experienced little growth in the US.

This stagnation has occurred because of the increasing adoption of integrated
pest management strategies, organic farming, more selective herbicides and the
development of pesticides, which are increasingly being used as alternative
pest-control agents. Moreover, the adoption of genetically modified crops in
2007 and low farmer income during the recession caused revenue volatility over
the five years to 2012.
Agrochemicals are extensively being used to improve per
hectare production of crops that can be used for food and industrial
application. The industry application of crops includes fuel blending and
polymer manufacturing. Agrochemicals contribute towards the improvement of
factors that affect the production of crops such as macro and micro nutrient
supply, soil nutrient restoration, protection from plant diseases, etc.
The China pesticides market is the largest among the three
Asian markets, both in terms of revenue and volume consumption. Herbicides
segment is the highest contributor towards the China pesticides market and
volume consumption and will continue to be the largest segment in China
pesticide market throughout the forecast period. Fruits, vegetables and nuts
crop segment was the largest consumer of pesticides and will remain so in
coming years.
