E-Series Glycol Ether Market

Global E-Series Glycol Ether Market by Application (Paints & Coatings, Cleaners, Automotive, Printing Ink, Chemical Intermediates, Pharmaceuticals, Others), by Type (EGBA, EGPA, EGBEA), by Geography – Forecast to 2019

E-series glycol ethers are liquid solvents, which are produced by reacting ethylene oxide with alcohols. Glycol ethers can then be further reacted with acetic acid to produce the equivalent acetate ester form. Therefore, a whole family of products with 30 or more possible combinations exists. Glycol ethers are used extensively as solvents because they are soluble in both water and organic liquids. General uses of glycol ethers include inks and dyes, enamels, paints, and as cleaning agents in the dry-cleaning and glass-cleaning industries. E-series glycol ethers are used widely as solvents for resins, lacquers, paints, varnishes, dyes and inks, as well as components of painting pastes, cleaning compounds, liquid soaps, cosmetics and hydraulic fluids. It is also used for dyeing and printing in the textile industry and as a leather-finishing agent; an anti-icing additive for aviation fuels; and a component of varnish removers and cleansing solutions.

The global E-series glycol ether market has been segmented in terms of various applications and types. Globally, Asia-Pacific is the key region in the market, followed by North America and Europe. The growing demand from the end-use industries in Asia-Pacific is one of the major drivers of this market and a strong growth is expected during the forecast period, 2014 to 2019. However, the increasing awareness regarding the impacts on human health and environment may restrain the growth of the market in the coming years.
