High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Foam Market

Polyethylene, also known as polythene, is the commonly used plastic, and it is chemically synthesized from ethylene. Polyethylene is utilized in different products such as packaging products, pipes, molds, wires, cables, general purpose tubing, drums, carrier bags, and household goods. HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE are the three types of polyethylene. HDPE is a thermoplastic and is manufactured from petrol chemical derivatives. It is a commonly recyclable product and has high strength and density ratio. It contains less than one side chain per 200 carbon atoms in the main chain, which helps in forming long linear chains, thus leading to high crystallinity. HDPE is tough, resistant to chemicals, resistant to UV radiation, and least flexible compared to other polyethylene types. It is used in blow molding application such as bottles and drums, toys, pipes, monofilaments, films, fiber, woven sacks, caps and closures, crates, household goods, and fuel tanks for automobile.

Polyethylene foam is a very sturdy, lightweight, tough, closed-cell material. It is often used for packaging fragile goods due to its excellent vibration inhibiting and insulation properties. It also offers high resistance to chemicals and moisture. Polyethylene foam is easy to process and fabricate. It has high load bearing characteristics that help manufacturers reduce packaging costs as they can use thinner and smaller amounts of foam yet still protect their products.

Asia-Pacific has the biggest share in HDPE foams market. China is the leader in demand for HDPE foams market in Asia. APAC is expected to continue to lead this market over the next few years. The market for HDPE foams has been experiencing slow growth in Europe and North America due to maturing of these economies.

The growing world economy has fueled an acceleration in consumer spending and manufacturing activity. Polyethylene continues to be the most widely used plastic resin in the world because of its low cost, recyclability, versatility, and ease of processing.
